Vocational Training

A collaborative program with Gahanna-Jefferson public schools, Dreamcatchers works with students who are at-risk of not graduating from high school.  The program strives to provide individualized education and social and employment skills training to each of the students.  Students practice practical life skills through “on-the-job” coaching, weekly performance evaluations, and individual and group skills training and goal setting sessions.

Dreamcatcher program participants are given responsibility for a horse for the school semester.  Care includes cleaning, grooming, feeding and riding.

Curriculum for the program is tailored specifically towards each students’ Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)   The IEP designates up to six goals for each student as defined by students’ parents, educators and counselors.  Dreams on Horseback staff is specially trained with intervention and motivational techniques to help each student accomplish these goals.  Goals range from social interactions, behavioral management, and physical development.
